Why your gaps disappear

Instagram tidies whitespace when it saves a caption, so blank lines between paragraphs can get squashed and a carefully spaced caption turns into one block. A line that only contains spaces still counts as blank, so pressing the space bar doesn’t help.

What the tool does

• Removes spaces at the end of each line.
• Puts a single invisible braille-blank character (U+2800) on each empty line, which the app treats as content rather than whitespace.
• Drops empty lines at the very start and end.
• Leaves your words, emoji, hashtags and mentions exactly as they were.

Caption habits that help

• Lead with the reason to keep reading. Only the first line or two shows before “more”.
• Short paragraphs of two or three lines read better on a phone.
• A few precise hashtags at the end, after a gap, rather than a wall of them.
• One clear ask: save it, send it to a mate, or book via the link.
